Homework for Thursday Dec 1

NONE Been a hectic two days. Will post tomorrow for next Tuesday and will have sub showing a Truth Project video on science. Will have outline so I expect you to take notes. Will have class discussion next Tuesday on video along with homework do. Continue to look at Logic and understand the differences.

Workbook, same as we have been; page 38.  Theology 1.6 answer questions 26-29 (read the poem "The Madman") we will dissect it more when we get back. Page 62. Answer questions under Philosophy  26-30   Page90. Answer questions 26-30  (Remember, on the reflection questions, more thought is to be stated and responded to).
Read the Logic section Part One then answer the following.
Page 83, there are questions in the Logic category. Answer these to the best you can. Part one, questions 3,6,7,11 and 15  Be ready to discuss in class.

Homework for Tuesday Nov 15

Search the internet for any article and coverage on a "Wall Street" protest and/or sit in. Try and find who or whom is sponsoring the sit in. There will be key words and/or groups who are linked to coming along side these groups. Look for Moveon.org, George Soros Open Society, any union groups, SDS, acknowledge communist groups, etc. Look at you tube video's if you need to and look for signs being held which would acknowledge any group or organization. They are out there, trust me. Once you find these groups do a background check and find out its origins and philosophy.
From the workbook we are now moving to Marx/Leninism and thus need to do the questions regarding this worldview.

Homework for Tuesday Nov.*

Pg. 26-32 from the workbook. "Total Truth" Answer the five questions and be ready to discuss in  class some of your responses. This is our first attempt to verbally express view points with a sincere and cognitive response.
In addition read the first twp pages of "Critical Thinking" on pages 72-73  We will start to look at this concept of critical thinking and discuss in class as well. No questions are to be answered for this part. A working knowledge of this section is crucial going forward in our studying. A quiz will be presented in the are of knowing this section.

Homework for Tuesday11/1

Look for an article from a magazine or newspaper on line. An article in the op ed section usually works best. One that will definitely tell you of an opinion on the state of society/politics/science/psychology/movements. This article should suggest at some point that there is a worldview which for most instances will oppose your Christian point of view. They are out there! Keep hunting. You will find one. Use the help of your parent if you need to. This article should be copied and then reported on in typed response noting where in the article you perceived there was a conflict issue in regards to your foundation of Christianity. Again look for a newspaper article and/or a magazine article. No maximum on article length but a minimum of two solid paragraphs on response.

In addition, the workbook sections regarding the five questions under Secular Humanism.

Homework for Tuesday Oct. 25

We are now starting on the other worldviews. Secular Humanism is our next reading. So as before, start to read the text under Sec. Humanism and then go to the workbook and look at the five questions under each category. Sec. Humanism will be pg. 37 Theology 1.3 Answer 11,12,13, and 15

Page 61 is Philosophy and read and answer questions 11-15 This would be section 2.3
 Page 89 is Ethics Read and answer questions 11-14   This would be Ethics 3.3


We will finish these Q&A questions at a much faster rate than we did with Christianity. You now have the format so "dig in" and start reading the disciplines. i will come back and go over them again in class in order to highlight what I think is fairly important. Be sure to have a good update for me as to the book report. And again think about the movie night and suggested movie.

From the workbook, page 37. Theology 1.1, the first five questions should be answered completely. If a paragraph is needed to respond properly then do so. I should be able to know what thew question was by reading the answer or response to question. The reading in the text, pages 43-49 will allow you to respond to the questions properly. This homework is to be typed up and turned in on Thursday, Sept. 15

Welcome back PFA seniors/Worldview

Reminder of homework that is due on Tuesday September 13; Write two responses (typed) for the following two questions;
1. Is all sin evil?
2. Is all evil sin?
There should be a paragraph for each. Use the bible and ask your parents and/or pastors for a response to help you answer. BE THOUGHTFUL

Homework for Tuesday April 26

Stem Cell research: Complete the assignment of reasearching all you can for stem cells.
What kinds, describe the differences, laws on stem cell research, what states have what programs, who does the research affect, etc. Be able to get up in front of class and explain what you found. Give your position on the use of and be able to "defend" your position. No right or wrong, just be able to defend it.
Bring notes and/or an outline so I can see what you found.

Thursday's homework reminder

Look up the phrase "social compact/contract". Find any meanings to this phrase which would clarify it's intent as it pertains to politics, sociology and/or laws. Find as many differrent sites to check as you can and be ready to engage in class your findings.
Remeinder about the last book report: No later than May 24th. Same as the other ones. Cover page, five full pages of text and a bibliography page. Find an opposing worldview if you can. This makes you more aware of differing positions and hopefully be able to counter.

Looking at Tuesday, April 5th

Rob Bell is a pastor of the Emerging Church belief system. He has several U-tube video's and a book titled "Love Wins" Besides continuing our discussion on abortion we will look at the emerging church. Look up Rob Bell and be familiar with his ideas and "doctrines" of belief. We will do a week on this person and disect his beleif system. BE FAMILIAR with who he is. RESEARCH!!!

Thursday homework

This is for those of you who are not clear as to the assignment reference the film.
With the notes taken you should have noticed one or two worldviews. Name them and what reference you noticed or heard to support that view. There was religious symbolism in the movie as well. Identify those and and be as clear as you can how theses symbols were presented as religious. Note certain dialogue and what worldview was presented by the characters as well. All this should be done in an essay form. Several paragraphs are required of this assignment.

Thursday's homework reminder

Workbook pages 281-287 Answering the five questions at the end of the reading. Putting questions and answers for the five questions. In addition add a supplemental to at least one of the questions from what we have learned in class or your studies. Create a better, more thorough response to the essay answer for the question you have knowledge of in addition to the reading for this section.
Reminder, book report due the 24th  Five pages, double spaced with  a cover page and reference sheet or bibliography.

Homework for Tuesday March 8th

Two assignments:
1) Find out all you can about the Gnostics. What were they? When were they written? By whom? Why were they not included? Etc.
2) Gather more data to support the evidence of the validity of the scriptures. ie; Look up reports, authors, articles. etc. that would give credence to the historical accuracy of the gospels and books of the bible.
The articles and a typed up summation should be turned in on Tuesday as well as an ability to verbally identify and explain what you found.

REMEMBER to find an article from a newspaper, magazine, posting from internet(try not to be too lazy on using just the internet), etc. Looking for a point of conjecture,statement,theory or hypothesis from an individual that you would be able to distinguish a worldview and what points were stated that showed you that. (Identify what worldview) as well as being aware that book reports are due by Jan 20th Thesde reports count for a substantial part of your grade. Don't be late!!
We will start on Islam as the next worldview to investigate. Look ahead at the worldview in the text and get an idea of how it is similar to Christianity.
